Our client, a leader in financial technology solutions, is seeking a passionate and skilled Test Automation Engineer to join their dynamic team. As a Test Automation Engineer, you will be an integral part of the Operations Monitoring team, driving quality across distributed systems, integrations, and cloud-based services. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, excellent collaboration abilities, and a proactive mindset, which will align successfully within the organization.
This is not a traditional QA role—you’ll operate at the intersection of software engineering, test automation, and DevOps, building scalable automation solutions that validate system health, reliability, and end-to-end integrations.
Job Title: Test Automation Engineer
Location: Manassas, Virginia (Hybrid: 2-3 Days Onsite/Week)
What’s the Job?
- Design and build robust test automation frameworks for backend systems, APIs, and integrations.
- Develop automated validation for monitoring systems (alerts, dashboards, system health checks).
- Test and validate microservices architectures and distributed systems.
- Create and execute API and integration test strategies across multiple services.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams in an Agile environment
- Write and maintain automation in Python, Java, or JavaScript (Node.js).
- Support CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation (Ansible, Linux-based environments).
- Contribute to observability and reliability practices within the platform
What’s Needed?
- Bachelor’s Degree with 6-7+ years in test automation, SDET, or software engineering roles (backend engineering with strong testing experience).
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Robot Framework and/or Selenium
- API testing and REST-based integrations
- Microservices and distributed systems
- Proficiency in at least one modern language:Â Python, Java, or JavaScript (Node.js).
- Experience working in Linux/Unix environments, including administration and proficiency with basic commands, navigation, and directory structures.
- DevOps / Platform Engineering experience with a strong understanding of system design, development, and operations.
- Preferred background in monitoring, observability, or building dashboarding or system health visualization tools.
- Exposure to configuration management / automation tools (Ansible).
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud platform.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in agile, cross-functional teams.
