Position Summary

The Lead Software Engineer for the Client Developer Portal will provide hands-on technical leadership for an internal developer platform that centralizes software-development resources, guidance, engineering standards, onboarding, and automated workflows.
The engineer will lead translation of business requirements to software design that other developers can use to deliver the features. This person will be key in leading the implementation of guided Journeys and Golden Paths that simplify common engineering tasks, reduce cognitive load, promote self-service, and help developers focus on building software. The role combines software engineering, platform architecture/design, workflow automation, integration design, and developer-experience thinking.
This is a contract position for a builder who can establish technical direction while actively contributing production-quality code, tests, documentation, and operational improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead solution design and hands-on implementation for portal capabilities, guided Journeys, Golden Paths, reusable components, integrations, and workflow automation.
• Translate complex engineering standards and internal processes into clear, maintainable, and intuitive developer experiences via software design/specifications for other team members to implement.
• Define scalable patterns for other engineering teams to contribute documentation, resources, services, and automated workflows without creating inconsistent user experiences.
• Design secure integration patterns with enterprise engineering platforms and internal services, including authentication, authorization, validation, error handling, and data exchange.
• Partner with product, DevOps platform, security, and engineering stakeholders to convert product priorities into executable designs.
• Provide actionable technical guidance through software design, code reviews, pairing, troubleshooting, and mentoring.
• Manage technical dependencies and resolve cross-team design challenges while maintaining alignment with product outcomes and enterprise standards.
• Document architecture decisions, integration patterns, onboarding guidance, support procedures, and reusable engineering practices.

Required Technical Qualifications

• .NET development experience 5+ years
• API Design and implementation experience
• Database design experience
• SOLID Software Design principles
• Demonstrated experience leading the design and delivery of production software products or platforms with multiple integrations and user workflows.
• Strong hands-on software engineering capability across front-end and back-end components, APIs, automated testing, source control, and CI/CD practices.
• Experience designing modular, maintainable applications and reusable components that can evolve as product capabilities and contributors expand.
• Experience integrating applications with enterprise services using secure, reliable API and identity patterns.
• Ability to design for reliability, performance, observability, accessibility, security, and operational support from the beginning of delivery.
• Ability to convert ambiguous product needs and complex internal processes into pragmatic technical designs and incremental deliverables.
• Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain technical tradeoffs to engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.
Technical Leadership and Delivery Expectations
• Lead through architecture and execution. Technical direction must be supported by working software and delivery follow-through.
• Establish engineering standards through code, tests, automation, templates, reusable patterns, and documentation rather than guidance alone.
• Act as an escalation point for difficult technical problems while enabling the team to develop shared ownership and stronger capability.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience designing guided workflows, orchestration, forms, validations, or process automation for technical users.
• Experience integrating developer tooling, source-control platforms, CI/CD services, documentation systems, service catalogs, or platform APIs.
• Experience using product analytics, user feedback, support trends, or adoption data to improve a developer-facing product.
• Experience working in a large, matrixed enterprise with security, compliance, and shared-platform constraints.
